I am helping my husband research his family history. I know that his great grandparents were from the Muskoka/Parry Sound district from the census records. Here is what I have:

1. Alice Cooper (June 20, 1877 - July 13, 1962) married Henry (Harry) Adams (Aug. 4, 1865 - July 16, 1957) on Dec. 5, 1894 at the Anglican Parsonage in North Seguin. Could this be the Trinity Anglican Church in Parry Sound? Alice Cooper's parents were Joseph Cooper and Charity Ann Shaver. I have not been able to find any information about Henry Adams. The 1901 census shows they lived in Spence Twp.

2. Joseph Cooper (1850-1923) married Charity Ann Shaver (1853-1930) on October 21, 1874 at the Uxbridge Parsonage by Reverend John Davidson, M.A. I have been able to research Charity Ann Shaver but I am having little luck with Joseph Cooper other than that his parents may have been George Cooper and Annie Brown according to the census records.

3. Percy Higgins married Ada Cooper (daughter of Alice Cooper and Henry Adams). I believe that Percy's parents were Simon and Willimena Higgins (according to the 1901 and 1911 census records). Simon may have been born Sept. 17, 1858 and Willimena on Jan. 1, 1864. They lived in McKellar Twp. I have not been able to find any record of where they came from or where they were born or married.

Any information that could be provided to help me in my research of Henry Adams, Joseph Cooper and Simon and Willimena Higgins would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

William Armstrong born about 1824 Married second time to Margaret Perry in 1865 Barrie, Ont. I'm looking for William and Margaret's death dates in Essa Twp. simcoe Co. William's parents are Samuel and Catherine. would like any information on this family. William was apparently born in Montreal.

I am looking for one of the early pioneers of Depot Harbor area. His name was Bacon, the family name was later changed to Beacon. He passed away at McMurrich Ontario in July 30 1903. His wifes's name was Ann Jane. They had a daughter Elizabeth the eldest, a son William John, and the youngest a daughter Ann Jane. The girl's married local men Parry Sound, Huntsville area. I believe he was buried in one of the pioneer cemetaries in the area. Would like to trace down the family or any surviors. I live in Alberta and am not able to do any sluething myself. All help or advice tips etc. gratefully accepted. Thank you.

To follow up on Bacon/Beacon...John Bacon was married to Ann Jane White, whose brother was W. A. White of Whitehall....His son William John married a Mary Hearson in Whitehall in 1917...His sister Elizabeth married a Richard Thomas of Sturgeon Falls and one other sister married a Watson of Burk's Falls..I would appreciate any and all help..

I was so pleased to find your site. Here's hoping you can be of help in my search.

I have found my g grandparents in the 1901 and 1911 census listed in Macauley. I also found in the 1871 census Richard James Bell listed as head of household in Macauley. There is the possibility he may be related, possibly James father.

I also have their son Gilbert Archibald Bell married to Marie Carmel Hubbard, living in Bracebridge. They married Feb.17,1914, Methodist Church Bracebridge. From Gilbert's attestation papers I got that he was born in Falkenburg Oct.30 1892.(census has him Oct. 30 1891) From his obituary notice he was born at Monsell, Macaulay township. (Interestingly, I found an attestation paper for James Gilbert Bell born Burks Falls in 1917, mother Marion M Bell. Because of the similarity in given name I do believe he must be related.) Gilbert A. died Jan. 14, 1963 Bracebridge Memorial Hospital. Family information has Marie Carmel from 1895 to 1951.

I am looking for birth, marriage, death certificates, anything to further my information on the family. I really don't know how to proceed further.

I have been trying for years now to find out where my great great great grandfather Turner Boyd was buried up in Parry Sound. Turner Boyd was the father to Isabella Howard (my gg grandmother) who lived on William Street. Turner Boyd was up visiting or living with his daughter(my gg grandmother)Isabella and son-in-law William Howard when he died in March of 1876. There is no record of Turner Boyd being buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery, is there any way that I or someone could check the cemetery records for the churches in the area? I checked with the town of Parry Sound and they said there were no death record filed with the town, but they had said that back in 1876 they may not have the records filed, however there could be records with the churches. Grandpa Turner Boyd was Anglican but his daughter Isabella Howard was Methodist up in Parry Sound.

I am still interested in finding my great great grandfather Turner Boyd who died up in Parry Sound on in 1876. The newspaper clipping in Belleville Ontario where Turner lived previously said "At Parry Sound, on the 6th instant, Turner Boyd, formerly of Belleville." This was all it said. That was in the Belleville Daily Intelligencer on March 28th, 1876. Turner must have been living with my great grandmother (his daughter) Isabella Howard (nee Boyd)  and his son-in-law William Howard. In March, as you know up in Parry Sound I would think the weather was bad and transportation would not be good up there and that Turner Boyd would be buried up in Parry Sound somewhere.

Looking for information on John Brook(s) and wife Amerilla. Lived in McDougall, Cowper & Foley area from 1881 to 1901. John died between 1891 and 1901. Anyone with information on this family, please contact me.

Henry DOWNEY was born in Ireland in 1839 and married Sarah DUNN in Essa Twp, Simcoe Co. Ont in 1853, they had John b 1854/5, David b 1857, William Henry b 1859, and Eliza b 1862. Sarah died and Henry remarried Eliza ELISON (ALLISON) who was born 1 May 1845 in Donegal Ireland. They had William b 1864, Martha b 1868, Catherine b 1869/71, Margaret Ann b 1873, John, Elizabeth b 1878, and Rebecca b 1879.

I have some more info on some marriages and children. Any one interested in sharing info on this family would be greatly appreciated.

Three HILLMAN brothers, James, Richard, and William came to Muskoka during the land grants of the early 1870's. I have extensive info on these families and would love to share info with relatives and fill in some blanks.

Robert HARPER b 7 Dec 1837 near Markham, and his wife Maria (GRICE)b Jan 1845 in England were married 5 Oct 1865 in Markham ON. and moved to Monck Twp in the early 1870's. They had 11 children, William, John, Thomas, Benjamin, James, Mary, George, Fanny and twin Sarah, and stillborn twins Olive and Oliver.
I would like to share info and help fill in blanks.

My great grandfather, Cornelius Daley, was living with his family in Parry Sound when the census was done in 1901.

They were Cornelius (husband b June 11, 1856), Matilda (wife b August 26, 1870), Lawrence (son b May 30, 1884), John Frances (son b July 30, 1889), Annie D. (daughter b March 28, 1890) and Nallie(?) (daughter b Nov 30, 1893)

Matilda died in Parry Sound in 1904. Annie D., who was my grandmother, was apparently sent to Peterborough as a domestic soon after that.

I have no idea what happened to anyone else.

any assistance in tracing these people would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for any information about my grandparents. My grandfather was born in thier home in the Huntsville area. His mother died and was raised by his grandmother. He married Ruby Byron from Huntsville and moved to Kingston Ontario, where I believed they got married.
Later they move to Selley's Bay where they own a Supertest Service Station with a restaurant. That is all that I have found out so far because info is very scarce for my family is very little left and I'm trying to learn more.
 I have heard that my grandfather could of been born in Gravenhust.

I am looking any information on my Great grandfather's brother Benjamin Stephen Elliott who I know marrried a Florence Pittman (father William Pittman a local Blacksmith) in Bracebridge in 1912. Benjamin immigrated to Canada from England in 1885 when he was about 1, but not with his natural parents.

We are currently searching for ancestors of ours who lived in Maplewood, Township of Sinclair at the turn of the 20th century. We have details from the 1911 census of a Henry and Ann Field, sons George, James, Thomas, William, Alfred and Robert. One of their daughter in laws was Rosa who in turn had a daughter called Eva May. We have found the grave stone on the pioneercemetries website of Ann, George and William and was hoping to get more information from your members.

Henry was the brother of my Great, Great Grandfather and we have researched this family line back to 1721 in England. We hope we can find details of them and of any surving relatives. We hope to visit PEI in 2007 (we are English in case you hadn't guessed!).

I am looking for any information on the Frederick family. Specifically Carl Wilhelm Frederick and Louisa Wilhelmine (nee Schneider). They originally came to Canada from Germany or Prussia to Stafford, Ontario. They married in Stafford in 1860 and lived in the Renfrew area for 30 years before moving to Himsworth township (Powassan). Their children were Edward, Charles, Albert, Amelia, Bertha and Elizabeth.
