Hi, I am interested in finding more information on my Great Great Grandfather and his family who settled in the Macaulay township sometime around 1870 or so. His name was William John Pickerell/Pickrell and I know from your web site that he and a number of his sons registered for land in concessions 6,7,8,and 9. They were farmers but one son, Charles became a blacksmith - but not sure he started in that trade in that area? I can not find any Pickerells in your local cemeteries but may have missed some. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide. I am prepared to make a donation to your group in exchange for any information on the Pickerell family in that area. Thanks for now. Hello, Barb - Great website! It's nice to know your group exists - I'd like to attend a meeting sometime when I am at my cottage. I'm a writer beginning to research the history of Three Mile Lake in Muskoka and I was particularly interested in your group's information on the cemeteries of Muskoka. I have been looking for the Ufford cemetery in Watt Twp. I thought it would be next to where the (Methodist) church used to be, Lot 15, Con V. Your chart has it located at Con III Lot 18. There is no live link to more details, so I'm wondering if you might know anything more about the location of this cemetery. Some of the original settler families (Shea, Veitch, etc.) were buried there. I'd appreciate any help you might be able to provide. Many thanks, Lee Ann Smith |

Hello, In other words - there may be someone in your area who knows more, and even how to contact the modern-day Jacksons. The reason for my query is that Thomas B Jackson is an important figure in a biography I am writing, but I know very little about him. Most of my information came from Toronto directories, and actually knocking on doors in Hiawatha Road, Toronto to see if he was remembered. There may be a son called Bill, who lived in Ajax . . . I am writing from England, but was in Toronto for a while, researching my book, and simply ran out of time. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Feel free to show my contact details. regards, Rolf Rolf Jordan, 65 Coombe Road, Irby, Wirral CH61 4UW UK |

Hello. I don't know a lot about setting up websites, but is it possible that the Muskoka Parry Sound group could set up an interactive site of the same area? There used to be one at Muskoka.org but some good-for-nothing hacked into it as there wasn't enough security on it. It was a fantastic site, where one could mostly get information in a short time. Your site never changes and it leaves the email address visible and you don't know if the person that you are writing to already has their answer or not. Just a suggestion for better help to genealogists. It would be nice to receive an answer what you think. I have emailed this site several times and never heard back, that is what I'm saying.Thank you, D.Partridge |

I am trying to find out any information about my family history. Laura Mary Juneau was my grandmother I believe she was born in Victoria Harbour on May 30 1913. I believe between both they had a total of eight children. Joseph died February 26 1961. I do not know his birth year or where he was born. Clara died at the age of One hundred years on September 5, 1992. Do not know where my great grandparents were born or if they were born also in Victoria Harbour. If at all possible any information you could find would be greatly appreciated. Thank you |

We have been in contact with each other on a few occasions. I am wondering if you would have any information on a "J. Warden" who operated a bakery business in Gravenhurst? I have an old postcard showing him beside his horse and carriage with his business name on it. Also, a fellow postcard collector's wife had an old leather postcard given to her addressed to a "Miss Lillie Warden" in Gravenhurst and I am wondering if this is the daughter of the J. Warden in question? Out of curiosity, do you know Jack Cline? I have met him twice now and we could talk for hours since he works with the archives etc in Gravenhurst? We do have a lot on common <G>. If you have any information about the Warden family, I would sure appreciate it. Thank you. Larry Matthews |

Methodist Records: My gg grandfather, James Turnbull, died in Paxton Township in Dec. 1895. On his death certificate it says he died in the unorganized township of Paxton. We have been unable to find out where he is buried and think that perhaps the methodist minister, (James was strict methodist), at that time might have put it down in his records. Its a long shot but after 15 years of searching I am trying everything I can to find his burial site. Does anyone know how/where I can obtain church/minister records for that time period and that area? His sons lived in Joly township at that time. Any help would be appreciated. |

I am trying to assist a contact from Australia who is attempting to trace his NOBLE family tree. In 1943 GEORGE ARCHIBALD NOBLE joined the Air Force and listed his place of residence as 41 Nobel Road, Nobel Ontario, Apparently he died on April 28, 1962 and is buried at Hutcheson Memorial, Huntsville, Ontario. I gather my Australian contact has his Air Force papers and does know a bit about him but little to nothing on his parents with whom he was most likely living in 1943. His parents were GEORGE FERRIS NOBLE & AGNES GAIL MIDDLETON, both born in Scotland along with GEORGE. I gather he does not know when or where they died but most indications are around Nobel. GEORGE ARCHIBALD worked as a CORDITE forman at Defence industries LTD in Nobel before he went into the Air force in 1943. His wife was MARJORY ELLEN WARD who was born in Ontario possibly in the Nobel area whom it is thought he married around 1938. GEROGE ARCHIBALD NOBLE & MARJORY ELLEN WARD had the following children: Is there any help or suggestions I can follow up to obtain any family information please as I would very much like to repay his kindness to me by filling in some family info for him. The time frames do not fit into the years of available records from the Ontario Archives B/M/D wise or census wise. I have looked on the 1911 index but do not think they were in Canada by that time and cannot see any record that matches them on findmypast.com. I am at a lost so will appreciate any leads etc. Thank you, |
